Frederick Douglass’s felt very obliged to become an abolitionist because he was a slave until he has 21 on his 2nd try to escape slavery. But this time he did it and became a free man. John Brown felt he needed to do this because he was religious man who listened to the bible so he wanted to get rid of the slave owners and free the slaves from them. I believe that Frederick Douglass’s way of being an abolitionist is in fact the most effective way. I can prove that because when listened to by the right person Frederick Douglass’s words really do matter and can make a change like Abraham Lincoln and other people with power. I do think that John Brown’s raid had a lot of potential to hange a lot in the US but since it failed when it was almost done. I honestly don’t think we can compare that with Frederick Douglass. Because Douglass could have went wrong and could have caused nothing to anything. My position is towards Frederick Douglass because he has a way that does not â€Å"hurt† anyone. I believe that progressives fall under Erasmus’s class with merely a small of Machiavelli. with conservativists utilizing some of both. Judging from the two positions. I would state that the progressives follow more closely to Erasmus because of his attack to peace. Give a small pride and take a hit. avoid war at all costs.
